Greater Arlington Civic Council

Our Information

WHAT, WHY & WHO

WHAT IT IS:

Greater Arlington Civic Council (GACC) is a non-partisan umbrella organization of separate neighborhood associations.  GACC was formed in 1978 by a group of concerned citizens “for the purpose of protecting and promoting the health, safety, morals, comfort, convenience and general welfare of the citizens of the Greater Arlington area”.  The Greater Arlington area is defined by neighborhoods within City Council Districts I and II.

WHY IT IS:

There is always a need for independent organizations that can work, through government, to solve problems in the community.  By joining the voices of the independent communities, GACC can address issues of general concern that impact the quality of life in our neighborhoods.

WHO WE ARE:

GACC member association select their representatives to serve on the GACC Board of Directors, annually, a nominating committee presents a slate of candidates from the board membership and an election determines the leadership for one year.  Operating through a committee structure, the council observes, studies and, when necessary, takes action on issues as varied as park facilities and programs, transportation, public education, the environment, zoning and preservation.

GACC is prepared to address the issues of importance to the community.  Join us in making a
difference.
